The era of smart energy storage has arrived
Would you like to know how energy costs of your company could be reduced involving energy storage and AI? We offer complex energy management systems with Hungary-based software development and ESS production for commercial applications.
We have developed a special system which allows us to enter a new chapter in the future of energy storage. By developing the Hungarian PG energy storage product line, we offer our customers product that goes far beyond the features of other products on the market and brings the smart energy management of the future within reach.
Which functions can be found in our solutions?
UNINTERRUPTIBLE POWER SUPPLY FUNCTIONALITY
Even though our company has solar power, in the event of a power outage – planned or unplanned – or if variations in voltage frequently occur, we are left without electricity power supply for hours at a time. Although, inverters themselves need continuous utility power to ensure their own operation and to run the solar park.
The main purpose of inducing a power outage when maintenance is being carried out on an electricity distribution network is obviously to ensure the life and health of network repair professionals. Planned outage can be achieved by completely switching out power lines and cables, thus energy being sent from our solar park back to the utility grid can be fully prevented for afore mentioned safety reasons. Should the input power fail, our ESS provides UPS functionality and can supply emergency power through our internal electricity grid using a dedicated output, up to the charge levels of the batteries. It is performed so by using an automatic switching device and a smart protection system as well. Thus we are ensured to have back-up energy at any unplanned occurrence and to prevent energy being sent back to the utility grid at the same time.
POWER SAVE MODE
Most inverters have quite an energy consumption of their own indepent of any other energy production or consumption. This could often occur at nights. Usually inverters then purchase energy from the grid or optionally retrieve the required amount from the ESS. In case of a medium-sized production facility this could potentially mean several thousands of kWhs of overconsumption which can have very significant cost implications.
A PG ESS is able to operate in a power save mode that swithes on automatically resulting in the system using only the very necessary amount of energy necessary for it to avoid a complete shutdown.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Previously listed functions could mean significant savings for the user each on their own, however a completely new era can be opened when they are bundled up and optimally utilized as such. Manual control of the uninterruptible power supply mode and power saving mode functions is extremely difficult, automating them individually with software is also uneconomical, furthermore we are also not able to prepare ourselves for the occurance of every combination of all dynamic variables possible.
The artificial intelligence built into PG energy storage systems serves the purpose of making maximum use of the equipment’s technical features and with a built-in decision making functionality – based on instructions programmed in advance – achieving outstanding savings and operational safety for the user. It is able to monitor the weather forecast for days in advance in order to predict the possible amount of energy production in an hourly manner. It is able to learn the user’s consumption habits, the shift schedule, the electronic characteristics of the machines, and from these information to prepare the hourly energy balance of our company in a most precise way. Our smart system is thus able to decide when to use an energy-saving mode, when to buy electricity from the grid, when to feed back or when to reserve a sufficient amount of power for periods of time when our consumption is predicted to be higher than our production. The smart devices in our company (heat pumps, boilers, EV chargers, air handling units, other automatic equipment) can be easily integrated into this smart system, which enables a uniquely complex and extensive energy management to be in place. Our energy consumers’ operation can be adapted and scheduled to match our forecasted energy production, and all this in such a way that as much solar energy is used as possible and as little electricity is purchased as possible.
All safety functions of the device are monitored by AI and, in the event of any abnormal effect or operation, shutdown and/or restrictions are effectuated in order to protect the ESS and all other devices from failure.
The PG ESS has the most modern automatic frequency restoration reserve (aFRR) capability, also known as secondary reserve, is a reserve in the power grid that helps to keep the grid frequency stable, and it allows MAVIR (MAVIR Hungarian Transmission Operator Co.) to perform regulation on the device when required and approved.
All necessary functions are included in our software to manage dynamic pricing, thus it can manage varying pricing ranges within the day specified by the service provider on any platform and can make decisions accordingly on when to purchase energy from the grid or when to feed back. We can make the most of all these features or, if required, we can monitor the equipment’s attentively set operation via a special user interface, which is available online or via an application installed on a smart device. In addition, we can even communicate with our smart system verbally and thus instruct it.
