FAQ

There are quite a number of solutions already available for storing energy and others also keep being discovered, although currently lithium-ion batteries seem to be winning the race in regards to storing efficiency and investment costs on the market of electricity storage.

Energy from the power grid or from renewable energy resources is delivered on demand via a converter, which converts the energy from alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC). Today’s batteries can only store DC. This energy goes into a batch of batteries that are installed within a battery container.

When the energy is needed on the power system, the converters are then used again, but this time to convert the DC from the batteries into AC. Then the power which has been transformed is stepped-up in voltage and eventually sent to an on-site substation or directly to a distribution or transmission line.

A battery management software monitors the individual cells and controls the voltage, temperature and current for safe, reliable transfer of energy. The system automatically shuts off if any dysfunction is detected while operating. The electricity then can be distributed to homes, businesses or any other facilities or consumers.

Although resilience and backup power are the primary reasons homeowners install energy storage systems today, the potential financial benefits of owning such a system are also important to consider. Energy storage systems can help consumers save money if they are on a time of use rate or if they have demand charges. They also enable consumers to use stored power from the system instead of the grid during peak times when they’d be charged at a higher rate.

To reduce electricity costs can be achieved by charging energy storage assets with low-cost energy – by either using renewable energy resources or charging from the grid outside peak pricing periods. Excess generated energy can be stored for later use on demand either for times when prices are high, or when no renewable energy is available at all due to lack of sunshine or wind.

Consumers can have a chance to gain energy from their own equipment to minimise electricity costs during peak pricing periods, in both summer and winter seasons.

Under today’s economic, societal and political circumstances and events installing energy storage systems are mostly suitable and beneficial for consumers who either already own or are about to install some kind of cost-efficient renewable energy sources such as solar panels and wind turbines, or who have the possibility of charging their assets at off-peak electricity times.

However it is important to differentiate financial and nonfinancial benefits and returns of such an investment. For off-grid locations that lack any kind of electricity sources at all, or for those sites that are inflicted with regular power outages or struggle with undersized or unreliable grid connections, it is a smart decision to invest in energy storage equipment to secure sites running.

Payback period could easily be reduced to a reasonable number of years. However, costs may vary across installers and manufacturers, and also many more parameters must be taken into consideration when defining the total cost of installation of such equipment aiming to meet your needs.

After a thorough consultation a unique energy profile must be created in order for our experts to draw up the most adequate offer possible to match each of our customers’ needs and preferences.

Investing into installation of an energy storage system that is based on deliberate consideration and thorough consultation with experts is most probably a wise decision. Assuming that such a system is adequately optimised to each customer’s own operation and use, and in case the customer is fully committed to a cautious and conscious approach, a 3-year payback period might not be a completely fictious or unreal expectation. Although a repay in the customer’s investment within a 5-year payback period can more certainly mean an achievable goal in most of the cases.

Peregium Green is keen on contributing to any attempt to preserve environmental sustainability via its products, services and overall approach.

Sustainable design involves integration of environmental principles into product design. This is essential in order to create a product that has the lowest environmental impact possible across its entire life cycle and supply chain management, from sourcing and manufacturing to storage, transfer, usage and disposal. Peregium Green is determined in keeping its focus on such sustainability strategies.

Prolonged longevity and safe design of Peregium Green’s industrial-scale energy storage assets are fully capable of storing great amounts of excess energy generated from primarily available and most sensible renewable resources such as sunshine and wind. Customers can discharge this stored energy on demand, therefore hardly any or no additional energy will need to be drawn directly from the grid that might as well be produced by a coal-fired power plant.

The company makes great effort to enhance environmental sustainability related to all areas of the supply chain management as well.

The demand for installing energy storage systems by customers has significantly grown in the past decade due to the ever growing concern over using fossil fuels, and due to the desire to being able to establish clean, more resilient and more efficient power sources.
Energy storage systems are devices capable of storing energy to supply electricity at a later time. The most common type of battery used in energy storage systems are Lithium-ion batteries, because they are good at storing energy.

Renewable sources of energy such as solar and wind power are intermittent, thus storage becomes a key factor in supplying reliable energy. Energy storage systems also help meet energy demands during peak times and can supply backup power during natural disasters and other emergencies. However, the increase in the number of energy storage system installations requires the need for a heightened understanding of the hazards involved and more extensive measures to reduce the risks.

Although batteries contain organic material that may be flammable, PG energy storage systems include both on-site and off-site monitoring systems, as well as fire suppression systems. PG energy storage assets have a control center that is running 24/7 that monitors and can control the operation of all our equipment remotely. Our energy storage systems comply with all local and state regulations in terms of operations, fire protection, and disposal of waste from storage options.

Lithium-ion batteries are increasingly found in devices and systems that the public use or interact with daily. While these batteries provide an effective and efficient source of power, the likelihood of them overheating, catching on fire and even leading to explosions increases only when they are damaged or improperly used, charged or stored. Nevertheless various research and experiments show that when correctly used energy storage batteries can be used and disposed of with minimal risk to human and environmental health.

It is not an easy task to do to the layman but Peregium Green offers a team of experts to help.

Many aspects must be examined such as site demand, charge and discharge cycles of energy, and also whether there is extra intermittent power requirement on location generated by other consumers every now and then.

An energy questionnaire can be found on our website which helps the process by covering all significant factors of the matter. By you filling in and submitting said questionnaire, our team will consult with you on all important aspects of the project in order to provide a most adequate quotation for your power needs.

There is a possibility for private individuals to do so, although it might not be as easy as it sounds. Currently under Hungarian law for example, this is an activity to be performed under stock exchange law regulations only.

As of today it is more simple to establish or participate in energy communities. Within these communities trading energy is allowed and also has numerous benefits.

In case you are determined to initiate such a community and need help in doing so, and you are located in Hungary, we are ready to support you.
